!!--THIS IS SO IMPORTANT--!!

Yall must back up your Sims 3!

I have lost the data twice now!
I don't know why but Sims keeps deleting itself

I was lucky this time to have a backup from only 2 days before that
So I am ok
but yall MUST backup your sims

Its as simple as anything for yall that don't know how to back up files

How do I back up my Sims 3?

All you have to do is every now and again copy and paste the Sims folder from inside your "Documents" folder ("My Documents" on Windows XP)
and paste it somewhere else whether on same comp or a external hard drive it don't matter

How long will this take to copy across?

My Sims folder is about 2.1GB large (as I have all the store items)
So depends on the items you downloaded and the computer spec
The more items the larger the folder
so that makes it longer to get all them files across
took my computer about 2 minutes.
But for you it could be faster or slower

I have a backup and need to use it, whats next?

You may never need the back up
But it's there just in case one of yall computers desides to crash The Sims
You still have a backup so you can use it just in case

If you have had the issue and do have a backup
getting the databack in the game is as simple as pasting the folder in the same place as the other and over-right it.

Still puzzled?

Thats it yall
If you don't understand me or what more information on this matter
Please feel free to e-amil me message me on here, or simplely post back a reply from this very post

Thanks yall for reading Smiley

Note: updated folder location

Mac game data is in the user's document folder, not in the emulated windows document folder.

What about your mods/package folder that contains all your downloads is it necessary to back that up too if say your computer crashes and you don't want to go through the trouble of downloading everything you've already downloaded before, because it seems with our luck with computers ours is always crahing for some reason at least once a year??? (we had a really expensive Dell with some bad parts, then we got a new computer and it crashed but it only needed to be cleaned like dusted or something, actually the very first Dell we had got killed in a flood it worked great till that point, the second one crashed with a bad memory stick, then again crashed later do to another bad part, I think that was the cpu, so now we have this computer. I guess it has something to do with our environment, to dusty, lots of static electrcity and many thunder storms and power outages...).
